Children are engaged in their individualized program for math, reading and creative writing and come together as a group for SmartBoard studies, geography, history, Greek mythology and more.
Computers are extensively used for writing, poetry and current events. Children are encouraged to bring in their personal tablets or iPads to use for their writing as well.
Soft background music is played throughout the morning. Mozart, Chopin, Bach and the like are enjoyed, and students are given the background of each composer. Art appreciation is carried over from the art room with a continuing study of the background of the Impressionists, Pointillism, and the like. The common core curriculum is given to all second through fourth grade children. Fourth graders, if continuing onto private schools, receive preparation for the ISEE test (Independent School Entrance Exam). |
